The valley of the Binna river, thus also known as Binna valley (Binnatal), an eastern confluent of the upper Rhône river.

The valley is world-famous for several localities (e.g. Lengenbach, Lärchultini, Wanni glacier).

Note: Starting in 2025, the municipality of Binn has introduced fees/collecting permits for all mineral collectors: 30 Swiss francs per day, or 1000 for a year (locals pay less, as usual in Switzerland).

Unit-cell parameters are close to those of argentoliveingite (triclinic-pseudomonoclinic), but rathite-IV is said to be monoclinic (Ozawa & Nowacki, 1974). The phase studied by Ozawa & Tachikawa (1996) using TEM seems to be a different phase.
