Named in honor of Mitrofan Stepanovich Tochilin (Митрофан Степанович Точилин) (15 December 1910, Bolshaya Podosinki, now Bryansk region, Russian Empire - 11 January 1968, Voronezh, USSR), Professor of Mineralogy, Voronezh University, Russia. He was a specialist on the Kola Penninsula.
