Originally named Baumhauerite-2a for its similarity to baumhauerite with double length of "a" cell parameter. Renamed by IMA (IMA 15-F) as argentobaumhauerite.
Type Locality:
The member of the sartorite group, described, as baumhauerite, by N1,2 = 3;4 = 3.5.
The name argentobaumhauerite replaces the former "baumhauerite-2a" which was formerly thought to be a mineral similar to baumhauerite but with a doubled length of the a cell parameter. There is Ag+As and Tl+As substitution for 2 Pb (Lengenbach material, used for structure refinement).
The structure is similar to that of baumhauerite, and consists of As-rich slabs and zigzag layers with Pb in trigonal prismatic coordination. Beside typical N=3 and N=4 baumhauerite slabs there are two distinct N=4 slabs: (1) with internal Pb and (2) with internal Ag+As instead of Pb.
