Unit-cell parameters are close to those of argentoliveingite (triclinic-pseudomonoclinic), but rathite-IV is said to be monoclinic (Ozawa & Nowacki, 1974). Considered a valid species by the IMA-CNMNC.

The phase studied by Ozawa & Tachikawa (1996) using TEM seems to be a different phase.
