Savoie is a department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France. Located in the French Alps, its prefecture is Chambéry.

Together with Haute-Savoie, it is one of the two departments of the historic region of Savoy; the Duchy of Savoy was annexed by France in 1860, following the signature of the Treaty of Turin.

The three arrondissements of the Savoie department are:
- Arrondissement of Albertville with 69 communes.
- Arrondissement of Chambéry with 151 communes.
- Arrondissement of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne with 53 communes.

Description: The "brannerites" of Villette occurs in a metamict state and is amphorous. Thus XRD can not be used to identify the samples. Studies of the morphology /crystallography are also inconclusive due to the poor developement of the crystals. Lack of the basal pinacoid termination on the crystals makes it difficult to mesasure the β angle. The crystals might be either monoclinique or orthorhombic. However one sample can be interpreted as having the this pinacoid termination, and can be interpreted as orthobrannerite. - Some crystals (not shiny ones) are altered to a mixture of coffinite , xenotime-(Y) and quartz.
