Named in 1848 by Nils Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld from the Greek, νεοτοκοζ meaning of recent origin, as it is an alteration product.
Type Locality:
Hisingerite-Neotocite Series.
An amorphous to poorly crystalline, hydrated Mn silicate.
Mn is assumed to be divalent (Brusnitsyn and Egorov, 2023).
