Amoron'i Mania is a region in central Madagascar bordering Vakinankaratra Region in the north, Atsinanana in the northeast, Fitovinany in the southeast, Haute Matsiatra in the south, Atsimo-Andrefana in the southwest and Menabe in the west.

The capital of the region is Ambositra. The area of the region is 16,141 km² (6,232 sq mi).

Amoron'i Mania Region is divided into four districts, which are sub-divided into 53 communes:

Ambatofinandrahana District - 9 communes
Ambositra District - 21 communes
Fandriana District - 13 communes
Manandriana District - 10 communes

The region also contains a number of protected areas:
- Part of Fandriana-Vondrozo Corridor
- Part of Marolambo National Park
- Itremo New Protected Area

Description: Blocs of several kgs of the amblygonite-montebrasoite series have been found. It was labelled as amblygonite in the elder litterature (Behier 1960), but it might in fact be montebrasite. A sample labelled as amblygonite from Ankiperatra in the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle was investigated using Raman spectroscopy, and found to be a montebrasite with a content of 17,9 wt% F. (Rondeau et al. 2006).

Ranorosoa (1986, 1989) analyzes pink,green and brownish colored tourmaline found in the contactzone and she find these to be elbaite, one an elbaite with 2,44wt% MnO. The brown colored gave this formula Na0,52Ca0,38)0,90(Li1,45Mn0,34Fe0,08Al1,77)3,64Al6,00(BO3)3,00Si6,00O18(OH3,63F0,09)3,72. Simmons et al (2001) states that tourmalines from Antandrokomby are members of the schorl-elbaite series with significant Mg and Ca contents.

Description: Well-terminated crystals and parallell groups to 12 cm has been found. Crystals are medium-pink with a faint blue zone near their tips (Moore 2008). This info was presented without any analysis. The polychromatic tourmalines from Madagascar show a very complex chemistry, and the different color zones in a single crystal may also represent different tourmaline species. Only single crystal x ray diffraction combined with a wavelength dispersive spectrum from an electron microprobe of a tourmaline is necessary to establish if fluor-liddicoatite (F- dominant on the W –site) or liddicoatite (OH-dominant on the W-site), elbaite, or other species is present.

Description: Mica samples with an inner zone of an amber or greenish mica surrounded by a violet rim are known from this locality. The violet rim was initially thought to be lepidolite (id based on the color). An XRD analysis done in 1960 obtained the following results: The inner zone is composed of muscovite 2M, while the violet rim was zinnwaldite (Behier 1960).
