First described by Achille Ernest Oscar Joseph Delesse in 1845, in honor of Augustin Alexis Damour [July 19, 1808 Paris, France - September 22, 1902 Paris, France], mineralogical chemist. (Annales de Chimie et de Physique, v. 15, no. 3, p. 248-255.)
Very fine-grained, compact muscovite - with a greasy feel, "serpentine-like," and often a fibrous appearance when viewed from a certain direction.
