The Ilimaussaq alkaline intrusive complex covers an area of 8 by 17 km and is Mesoproterozoic in age (ca. 1.16 Ga).
The complex is made up of three magmatic phases, where intrusions of augite syenite, alkali acid rocks, and agpaitic nepheline syenites took place. Their mineralisation occurs in pegmatites, hydrothermally altered pegmatites, and hydrothermal veins. Most of the locations concentrate on the banks of the fjords Kangerluarsuk and Tunulliarfik (Eriksfjord) as well as in the centre of the Narsaq peninsula.
The peralkaline "Green Granite" composition includes aegirine, aenigmatite, arfvedsonite, astrophyllite, britholite-(Ce), catapleiite, chevkinite-(Ce), ekanite, elpidite, fluorite, henrymeyerite, ilmenite, leucosphenite, lorenzenite, monazite-(Ce), narsarsukite, neptunite, richterite, thorite, titanite, and zircon. In addition, five unidentified phases and a Fe-poor Ba titanate are mentioned (Cegiełka et al., 2022).

Potassicarfvedsonite occurs in one or more pegmatite veinlets more than 20m long, and up to 0.5m thick, crosscutting naujaite, on both sides of the stream in the Pegmatite Valley.
The pegmatite veinlets mainly consist of white coarse-grained analcime with subordinate amounts of fine-grained sodalite, microcline, aegirine, crude crystals of steenstrupine-(Ce), eudialyte,and epistolite. Potassicarfvedsonite forms well shaped prismatic crystals from a few cm up to 15 × 0.8 cm, showing the {110} and {010} forms, included in an analcime matrix. In other parts of the veinlets, preferably the marginal parts, it occurs as mosaic individuals up to several cm in size,which combine to massive, sometimes divergent and curved, aggregates, constituting up to 30–50% of the pegmatitic rock.
