The westernmost federal state (Bundesland) of Austria, neighbouring Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
Known for scenic mountain ranges in the southern part.

The Montafon region (southern part of Vorarlberg) has a rich history in mining. In the Silbertal and Bartholomäberg areas silver, copper, and iron were extracted for more than thousand years. In other areas they were many small iron mines.
