Ancient Ag-Cu-Fe mining area with numerous overgrown dumps and several adits (collapsed or re-opened during archaeological work), mainly in the areas "Worms" and "Knappagruaba"; main ore was chalcopyrite and fahlore.
Abandoned around 1600.
Krause (2015) writes of 50 dumps and 30 adits, Kuntscher (1986) mentions countings of 150 dumps.

Note: Most of the dumps and adits are now protected ('Denkmalschutz', cultural heritage site).

A Bronze-age settlement was discovered in 2000 in Bartholomäberg-Friega (Friaga). Subsequent archaeological studies revealed a medieval smithy and traces of Roman activities. The studies are ongoing (situation 2021).

A small tourist mine ('St. Anna Stollen'), opened in 2010, can be visited (see sublocality Knappagruaba), as well as an archaeological museum (in Bartholomäberg) and a mining museum (in nearby Silbertal, https://stand-montafon.at/kultur-wissenschaft/montafoner-museen/montafoner-bergbaumuseum-silbertal).

The locality Kristbergsattel in the Silbertal municipality also belongs to this mining area.
