The Schio-Recoaro metalliferous district, situated in the municipal territories of Recoaro Terme, Valdagno, Torrebelvicino, and Schio, includes almost all prospects and mines of Vicenza province in which Zn, Pb, Ag, Fe, and Cu ores, Mn oxides, and baryte occur. Specifically, it includes the following important mining areas:
In Recoaro Terme: Civillina, Campogrosso, Spitz;
in Torrebelvicino: Valle dei Mercanti, Cengio, Singio;
in Schio: Tretto, Valle dell'Orco.

The Schio–Recoaro metalliferous district represents one of the most important historic mining areas of the Venetian Prealps. The district was historically exploited during the period of the Republic of Venice (Serenissima 1400-1700) for the extraction of various metals, including copper-, iron-, and silver-bearing ores, mainly from hydrothermal vein systems. For this reason, the district is also commonly referred to as the “Ex Serenissima Mining District”.

The mineralization is primarily related to hydrothermal processes affecting volcanic and sedimentary formations, with widespread quartz veins and polymetallic sulphide assemblages. The most common primary minerals include pyrite, chalcopyrite, and galena, often associated with secondary minerals formed through alteration processes.

Today, the district remains of significant mineralogical and geological interest due to the variety of mineral species, hydrothermal features, and its important mining heritage.
