Minerals can be found at the contact between Werfenian limestones and Upper Ladinic lavic intrusions (mainly with ryodacitic composition). The contact metamorphic rocks crop out along the streambed of Torrente Acquasaliente in the vicinity of an old bridge, to the south of Contrada Pornaro (Santa Maria di Tretto), and can be reached from Contrada Maglio, following the path going upstream along Val Munari.

This outcrop represents the third world occurrence for chantalite, which appears as colourless to white bipyramidal crystals in association with böhmite, gismondine, grossular var. hibschite, lizardite, nordstrandite, and vesuvianite .
