Outcrops of Middle Triassic porphyritic basalts in the little valley of a left-side tributary of Rio Timonchiello, near Contrada Gozati.
To reach this mineral locality, take the road that from Timonchio and Másena (Santorso municipality) leads to San Rocco hamlet, on the Tretto plateau (Schio municipality), crossing Contrada Albero Bassi (Santorso municipality), Molin and Cavecchia (Schio municipality). In the proximity of Contrada Gonzati, on the right of the road, take the small path that follows a little affluent of Rio Timonchiello upstream. Ferrierite-Mg is found inside calcite veinlets in the fissures of a tilted bedrock of compact basalt. Continuing uprestream until a 10-m-high waterfall you can find at its base boulders of a friable volcanite, in which nodules of calcite with heulandites, stilbite-Ca and, occasionally, goethite and other minerals are embedded.
Ferrierite-Mg, heulandite-Ca, and stilbite-Ca are the most common zeolites from this locality. Heulandite-K is also present, but it is indistinguishable from the calcium-dominant one without analysis. Heulandites forms red, lustrous and often transparent crystals up to 4 mm in length, similar to the famous crystals from Fassa Valley. Stilbite-Ca usually appears as bright, dark orange to red crystals, but altered crystals, dull green-yellowish in colour, are sometimes present. These altered crystals consists of mixtures of zeolites with a chlorite-smectite interstratified mineral.
