The Talnakh deposit or orefield is located near the town of Talnakh at the foot of the Talnakh Hills, 16 mi (ca. 26 km) north of the city of Norilsk on the Putoran Plateau. In 2005 the town was merged into Norilsk.
It is the site of the mines serving the production of nickel and other metals in Norilsk's metallurgical industry. The mineral talnakhite is named after Talnakh.
