About Picrite
Picritic rocks, fine grained ultramafic or , Mg-rich basaltic rocks with >18% MgO, 41-43% SiO2, (Na2O+K2O)<3%. Komatiite is similar but has <1%% (Na2O+K2O). When fresh it comprises dominantly fine grained olivine (20-50%) plus pyroxenes (mostly augite) with minor plagioclase, but is commonly altered to chlorite and serpentine.
