Name:
For Hans Merensky (16 March 1871, Botshabelo, South Africa – 21 October 1952, Duiwelskloof, South Africa), geologist, prospector, scientist, conservationist and philanthropist. He is credited with having discovered a rich deposit of alluvial diamonds, vast platinum reefs and the world's biggest chrome deposit.
Melonite-Merenskyite Series.
Forms a solid solution with michenerite, PdBiTe.

One of many Pd-Te species, that also include, e.g., 'UM1976-33-Te:Pd', kotulskite, keithconnite, telluropalladinite and 'Unnamed (Pd Telluride)'; compare also 'UM1974-20-Te:BiPdSb'.
