Named for the Sadamisaki Peninsula, colloquially referred to as Misaki. It is a narrow mountainous peninsula that includes the type locality.
Related to kapellasite and haydeeite.

The structure is layered and closely related to that of iyoite, which is also closely associated and of the same genesis.

Also synthesized by hydrothermal method.
