Description: Schnorrer-Köhler (1988): Associated with chalcopyrite, calcite and/or quartz. Röntgenographic analysis cannot distinguish köttigite from hörnesite (the Mg end-member of the vivianite group). However, köttigite's refractive index is higher than 1.60 (whereas that of hörnesite is lower than 1.60). Moreover, apart from As only Zn and some Fe were found by qualitative analysis.
