A mining district ('Cobar gold field' or Cobar mineral field) centred around the town of Cobar, in a parish of the same name. There are several gold-base metal mines, mostly now abandoned, which generally worked copper and gold mineralised lenses in large faults.

Most mines are presently owned by Peak Gold Mines Pty Limited (PGM), a wholly owned business unit of Rio Tinto Ltd.

Boundaries are for the town of Cobar.
