Western Keivy is the most accessible and studied sector of the Keivy Mountains. The region border with Central Keivy is conventionally considered the valley of El'iok (Yel'iok) river.

Western Keivy is a large alkaline granite massif with age ~2100-2440 Ma. Age of amazonite pegmatites crosscutting alkaline granites of the massif is 1690 Ma.
It is the only Archaean A-type granite known in the world.
