Name:
Its name is derived from Essex County, Massachusetts, USA.
A nepheline monzogabbro or nepheline monzodiorite.
An variety of alkali gabbro primarily composed of plagioclase, hornblende, biotite, and titanaugite, with lesser amounts of Potassium feldspar and nepheline. Essexite grades into theralite with a decrease in potassium feldspar and an increase in nepheline and other feldspathoid minerals.
