Name:
Name given for its content of lead, PLUMBum, and its relation to other "betafite" members of the pyrochlore group (sensu lato). Name first introduced by Ganzeev et al. (1969) for a mineral of the pyrochlore group (sensu lato) from the Burpala alkaline massif, Russia.
Plumbobetafite of Ganzeev et al. (1969) is a so-called "zero valent dominant member" of the Pyrochlore Group. Plumbobetafite of Voloshin et al. (1993) is a "plumbobetafite".
