A term proposed for both feldspathoidal pegmatites and for pegmatites without graphic texture (Shand, 1910, p. 377; Tröger 951; Tomkeieff p. 422).
Perhaps most commonly used nowadays for rocks similar to pegmatites s.s. but not fitting the grain size or origin. They don’t always fit the pegmatite definition of an average grain size above 1 cm, but can be just an abnormally coarse grained crystalline rock, often metasomatic or formed by regional metamorphism.
