After having been abandoned for many years, the quarry in the scoria cone of an ancient volcano is now (2024) active again.

Olivine nephelinite dikes and lava flow, with mineralizations both in cavities of the lava and in xenoliths (clay, sandstones, carbonatites, and sanidinites).

Located on Emmelberg Mountain, 0.5 km south of Üdersdorf and about 6 km SSW of Daun.

'Natropyrochlore'
Description: Listed as "(Oxy?/Hydroxy?/Hydro?)-Natropyrochlore". While researching a number of pyrochlore minerals, a dark red "pyrochlore" crystal from the Emmelberg found by G. Blaß was also examined. Unfortunately, it turned out to be impossible to determine the occupancy at the Y position, which is necessary for a complete species identification. The sum of cation valences identified ratios of 9.4, which is considerably below the limit of 13.5, above which an oxy-pyrochlore would be represented. Hardly any fluorine could be determined, and the presence of H2O, O, and OH could not be quantitatively determined at all. For this reason, the species could not be clearly identified according to the new nomenclature.
