Minerals from the green/blue/lavender jade (jadeitite) boulders & pebbles from the region, in particular from:
- Oyashirazu sea shore
- Kotaki-gawa river bed
- Hime-kawa river
Jadeitite is found as tectonic blocks in serpentinite mélange.

The first evidence of jadeitite from Itoigawa being used by humans is a hammer stone made of jadeitite discovered at the Ogakuchi site in Itoigawa,
from ca. 7000 years ago in the Early Jomon age.
