Town (Former) - last checked 2021
Köppen climate type:
Tiger no longer exists.
It was bulldozed by the operator of the San Manuel Mine to access the underlying silica flux with related mineralization.
The hope was to kill two birds with one stone: mine silica for the San Manuel smelter and recover the gold value of this material.
The scheme failed due to the excessive amounts of lead in the material.
Thus, a famous mining town was obliterated for no practical reason.
The townsite is now a pit with the old Mammoth-St Anthony shaft in its middle (now filled in).
This town was the post office to the famous Mammoth (Mammoth-St Anthony) Mine, which was located in its centre.
