Baja California is the northern-most and western-most state in Mexico. It is one of the 31 states which, with Mexico City, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. Note that the official name of the state is Baja California, although it is often referred to as Baja California Norte in order to distinguish it from Baja California Sur.
