Isla Guadalupe
Guadalupe Island is a 244 square km volcanic island located 150 miles (241 kilometers) west of the Baja California Norte's western shore (29°01′24.04 N 118°16′21.75 W). Virtually uninhabited, there may be as many as 150 people on the island at any given time, but most are confined to temporary fishing camps. The island consists of two adjacent dissected overlapping shield volcanoes, and most exposed rock consists of olivine basalt, trachyte, or their alteration products.
Vugs of epidote were apparently discovered in non-specific areas of the island in the 1960's. Little or no effort has been made to prospect or mine the area since that time. (Epidote reported from here might have really come from a different island, Isla Cedros.)
