Granite pegmatite. Feldspar was mined at this site as recently as the 1950s.
The property was originally acquired by siblings George, Abbie S. and Harriet (Hattie) Turner from W. P. Brigham in 1904 (Cheshire County Registry of Deeds {CCRD} Book 337 Page 320).
On 20 October 1923, George, Abbie and Harriet Turner leased the mineral rights to Eureka Flint and Spar Company (New Jersey) (CCRD Book 407 Pages 536-537). A second lease with Eureka Flint and Spar Company was signed 10 June 1925 (CCRD Book 420 Pages 547-549). This lease was terminated 28 December 1932 (CCRD Book 453 Page 469).
George sold the 90-acre property to Lenore M. Turner (wife of William E. Turner) of Campello, Brockton, Massachusetts, on 28 July 1932 (CCRD Book 454 Page 399).
On 17 July 1941, Lenora (Lenore) M. Turner of Campello, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts, signed a 20-year mineral rights lease for 90 acres near Marlow to the Golding-Keene Company of Keene, New Hampshire (CCRD Book 494 Pages 386-388). It appears that an adjacent property adjoining the "... land of the heirs of George Turner ..." was leased a week later on 23 July 1941 to Golding-Keene Company by Leon R. and Ida M. Britton, Annie B. and Charles Winham, and Bertha B. and Tracy W. Harrington (CCRD Book 491 Page 194).
