Name:
Named in 1925 by Alexander N. Winchell in 1899 after the type locality at Chestnut Hill, Easton, Pennsylvania, USA. The name eastonite was first used by Samuel Harbert Hamilton also after the type locality at Chestnut Hill, Easton, Pennsylvania, USA, but it not certain if Hamilton's mica was the same material as described by Winchell, although there has been much historical discussion of what eastonite actually is.
