Skarn formed by contact metamorphism of Hercynian granite intruded into Cambrian-Ordovician marbles.
Several workings on both sides of the French-Spanish border, in a mountainous area on the southeastern slopes of Costabona Peak (2464 m high). The most important part of the deposit is located on the French side. The two workings developed on the Spanish side are located at Coma de Fra Joan, Setcases, Ripollès, Gerona (Girona), Catalonia and at Roca del Turó, Espinavell, Ripollès, Gerona (Girona), Catalonia.

Has been compared to the Anglade Mine, Salau skarn.
