Epithermal Ag-Au mineralisation consisting of veins and stockworks in adularized andesite and rhyolite. Gold associates with minor Ag-sulphosalts, pyrite, marcasite, quartz and chalcedony. Early superficial mining of rich supergene ores. The mineralization extends to depths of 50–150 m.
Old German name is Königsberg.

During the last four centuries, the Banská Štiavnica-Hodruša district yielded more than 80 tons of Au and 4000 tons of Ag. The ore field in Nová Baňa was exploited since the thirteenth century and continued until 1887. The total amount of gold mined in Nová Baňa was estimated at least 3 tons. Assuming the average Au:Ag ratio of 1:64, the silver mined here could have been 80 tons. The largest ore structures in the centre of the deposit area are Laurenc vein, Jakub vein, Jozef vein, and Reissenschuch vein system. There are around ten smaller veins for which there is no data. The ore-bearing structures in Nová Baňa have generally NNE-SSW strike and dip steeply to E. The largest vein zones follow the contact of the rhyolite intrusion and older andesites with length of almost 1 km and thickness of up to 50 m. The main bodies of low- to intermediate-sulfidation epithermal veins and vein zones are hosted by the extrusive rhyolite body of Jastrabá formation (Lower Sarmatian) in the central part of the deposit (veins Laurenc, Alžbeta, Jozef, and Jakub).
