Name(s) in local language(s):
Stollbergsfältet
A Fe-Pb-Zn-Mn-(Ag) deposit.
The main ore deposits comprise a chain of orebodies that occur discontinuously for 5 km along a prominent marble and skarn horizon. The orebodies mainly contain magnetite and combinations of sphalerite, galena, pyrrhotite, and lesser pyrite and chalcopyrite within marble and skarn.
The deposits are interpreted as metamorphosed, hydrothermal-exhalative, and carbonate-replacement-type mineralization.
Tegengren (1924) writes "Stollbergs gruva" (Mine), but on the map, he has (from N to S) Norra schaktet, Sextigr., Stora Septigr., Smedjegr., Tvärstollsgr., Lilla Smedjegr., Garpenberg, Mårtens schakt and Skredbergsgr. ("gr." is the Swedish abbreviation for "gruva", meaning "mine"; "schakt(et) means "shaft").
Magnusson (1973) uses only "Stollberg".
Note on the mineral list: for a discussion about the occurrence of clino-ferro-suenoite, see https://www.mindat.org/mesg-858101.html

| ⓘ Clino-ferro-suenoite ? Formula: ◻Mn2+2(Fe2+5)(Si8O22)(OH)2 Description: Weibull (1883) described an Mn-bearing amphibole from Väster Silvberg and named it silfbergite. Later, Leake (1978) considered silfbergite to be a synonym of dannemorite, and labels were accordingly changed to silfbergite, variety of dannemorite. Subsequently, dannemorite itself was reinterpreted as a synonym of manganogrunerite.
"Manganogrunerite" was the official name for this composition until the 2012 nomenclature report* established a set of guidelines for establishing amphibole root-names. The then "manganogrunerite" qualified as a separate root name together with the then manganocummingtonite. Oberti et al. (2017)established clino-suenoite and clino-ferro-suenoite as the names for manganocummingtonite and manganogrunerite respectively.
However Holtstam et al. (2025) examined “silfbergite.” They analyzed a representative sample (GEO‑NRM no. 19530359) and found that it was not clino‑ferro‑suenoite, but rather manganoan grunerite.
It is an open question if Clino-ferro-suenoite does exisist at Stollberg ore field.
