Oyonite

A valid IMA mineral species
This page is currently not sponsored. Click here to sponsor this page.
Formula:
Ag3Mn2Pb4Sb7As4S24
Colour:
Black
Lustre:
Metallic
Hardness:
3 - 3½
Specific Gravity:
5.237 (Calculated)
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
Named after the Oyon district in which the type locality is located.
Oyonite belongs to the Sb-rich members of the andorite homeotypic sub-series. Chemically similar to menchettiite, lasmanisite, and uchucchacuaite. Also compare ramdohrite and 'dürfeldtite'.

Also compare luboržákite.

A phase chemically similar to oyonite, but with the (Pb-poorer) "approximate composition MnPbAg2Sb4As2S12" is reported by Kasatkin et al. (2022).
