Name:
Named in honor of Dr Farahnaz Daliran (b. 1953), research associate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany for her contributions to research on ore deposits, especially Au, Zn and Fe, in Iran.
Originally, and erroneously, reported as ludlockite from Zarehehuran, Takap, Takht-e-Suleiman massif, Azerbaijan.

Daliranite has an incommensurately modulated structure (Lanza et al., 2019).

Reinvestigation by Lanza et al. (2019) demonstrates the mineral is orthorhombic (space group Pnma for average structure) with a = 21, b = 4.3, c = 9.5 Å, and incommensurately modulated.

Matted nests of acicular and flexible fibres up to 200 μm in length and a width less than a few μm.
Place of Conservation of Type Material:
Mineralogical Museum of the Department of Materials Engineering and Physics (Mineralogy), University of Salzburg, Austria, numbers 14947 and 14948.

South Australian Museum (G29976).
Geological Setting of Type Material:
A late-stage hydrothermal mineral formed by reaction with orpiment in a Carlin-type, sediment-hosted disseminated Au-As deposit.
