An area of some 1200 veins that contain reserves of 630 tonnes of gold.
More than 50 gold deposits with a gold reserve of around 20 tons are located in the Xiaoqinling goldfield, and these deposits are mainly auriferous quartz vein type and smaller amounts of altered fracture type.

The local structural pattern is dominated by the nearly EW-trending fold-and-thrust system that formed during Triassic convergence between the two cratonic blocks. The major subparallel Taiyao and Xiaohe faults delimit the northern and southern boundaries, respectively, of the uplifted basement and the gold district. The boundary faults have undergone early ductile deformation overprinted by later brittle deformation. From north to south, the Wulicun, Qishuping, Laoyacha, Miaogou, and Shangyangzhai regional folds are the main structures developed in the basement units. The Neoarchean amphibolite-facies metamorphosed Taihua Group is the main basement unit, composed amphibolite, gneiss, migmatite, biotite gneiss, graphite schist, quartzite, and marble.
Gold mineralization occurs predominantly as auriferous quartz veins with minor disseminated ores in Xiaoqinling. Most of the auriferous veins were formed along the NW- to EW-trending transtensional faults with moderate dip angles developed along the limbs or axes of the regional folds. The veins range from a few hundred meters to several kilometers in length. Secondary brittle-ductile shear zones within the limbs of the major folds localize mineralization along mainly-three WNW-trending gold belts.
