Köppen climate type:
The Artillery Mountains lie West of the Big Sandy River, North of the Bill Williams River directly North of the Alamo dam and lake on that river, and NE of Chapin Wash. These mountains are on the NE of the Rawhide Range. Essentially a manganese mining area with some pegmatites. Manganese deposits with 58 total claims. Located in secs. 3,4 & 5, T11N, R13W & sec. 33, T12N, R13W, G&SRM, + the entirety of sec. 32, T12N, R13W, G&SRM. Owners include the Chapin Exploration Co. (from 1929 forward).
The Artillery Mountains rise from dissected bajada and lava-capped slopes North of the Bill Williams River & culminate in Artillery Peak, a volcanic plug. Coarse-grained granitic rocks of probable Precambrian age extend from the Hualapai & Aquarius Ranges into the Artillery Mountains. Most of the Mn in this area occurs in bedded deposits.
Approximately 4 carloads of Mn ore at 41-45% Mn were shipped from the area (1928).
