Named for the Khorixas District, Namibia, that includes the type locality.
The Bi analogue of mottramite (compare also the discredited, Ca- and Bi-bearing mottramite variety "duhamelite").
Monoclinic-pseudoorthorhombic, closely related to the orthorhombic Adelite-Descloizite Group.

Chemically similar to namibite.
