Pune District is one of the districts of Pune Division in the state of Maharashtra, India.

The district is surrounded by Thane district on the northwest, Raigad district on the west, Satara district on the south, Solapur district on the southeast, and Ahmednagar district on the north and northeast.

On the leeward side of the Western Ghats, it extends to the Deccan Plateau on the east.

Pune is at an altitude of 559 metres (1,863 feet).

The district is located between 17.5° and 19.2° north latitude and 73.2° and 75.1° east longitude.

Habit: The mesolites are formed in a ball-shaped cluster, each crystal being a long elongated needle. All of the needles merge to a single point, creating ball-like sprays. Each needle has a square top. It is usually found in Heulandite Cavities, along with stilbites, and apophyllites.
Colour: The mesolite here comes in colors of white, transparent, and orange

Description: High-quality mesolites are notably abundant in the Sus area of Pune. These mesolites are often found in large, ball-shaped formations within Heulandite cavities. They appear in impressive sizes and massive clusters, with some of the world's largest mesolite clusters discovered here. The specimens are typically unearthed at construction sites and roadcuts, where their striking, spherical sprays become evident.
