Basalt quarries used for road building and other building purposes. Some of the amygdaloidal cavities are large enough to crawl into. They are most famous for the very fine specimens of dark green (colored by vanadium) apophyllite that they produced, some with very fine quality mesolite specimens.
All quarries either built over or flooded.

| ✪ Mesolite Formula: Na2Ca2Si9Al6O30 · 8H2O Habit: The mesolites are formed in a ball-shaped cluster, each crystal being a long elongated needle. All of the needles merge to a single point, creating ball-like sprays. Each needle has a square top. It is usually found in Heulandite Cavities, along with stilbites, and apophyllites. Colour: The mesolite here comes in colors of white, transparent, and orange Fluorescence: None Description: High-quality mesolites are notably abundant in the Pashan area of Pune. These mesolites are often found in large, ball-shaped formations within Heulandite cavities. They appear in impressive sizes and massive clusters, with some of the world's largest mesolite clusters discovered here. The specimens are typically unearthed at construction sites and roadcuts, where their striking, spherical sprays become evident.
