Located 6 km south west of Youangarra Homestead.

The Youangarra Goldfield is 115 kilometres south of Sandstone, and about 25 kilometres south of the Youanmi mining centre. Its consists of a line of shaft groupings and alluvial workings trending north-west to south-east for about 10 kilometres, with the Freddie Well mine at the northern extremity, and the Penny West open pit at the south. The Pincher Hill prospect is separate to the north-west of the Youanmi homestead.

Apart from gold, exploration of the area has found uranium, nickel, zinc, and platinum type minerals, although only Penny West for gold has seen any modern mining.

Youangarra is the modern name for the area, while historically it was called Curran's Find.

In 1908, James Curran found a 3.5 ounce nugget at the location, and applied for 2 x 24 acres reward leases. A number of prospectors opened mines around the locality which operated until about 1912.

The writer could find very little information from mining here in the early 20th Century and more information is needed.
