Old abandoned quarry in the NW slope of the Podhora Hill, overgrown by forest.
Located near Mariánské Lázně.

The locality belongs to a Tertiary (15.3 or 12.4 million years) volcanic body penetrating the Mariánské Lázně Metabasic Complex. Olivine nephelinites are probably non-differentiated products of mantle origin. Mineralogically interesting are coarse-grained parts with clinopyroxene + nepheline + melilite/leucite, sanidine + sodalite, olivine, magnetite, apatite (ijolites to turjaites).

Podhorní vrch (locally called Podhora) is a forested mountain in the Cheb district, located about 4 kilometers northeast of Mariánské Lázně, the highest peak of the Tepelská vrchovina. The altitude of the Velká Podhora peak is 847 meters, the second peak (Malá Podhora) is 829 m above sea level. From the summit of the second peak, a view of the Tepelská vrchovina and Slavkovský les opens to the northeast, to Smrčiny to the northwest to Český les to the southwest. In the saddle between the two peaks stands a metal radio communication tower. The area is much visited by tourists, especially the scenic peaks. From Mariánské Lázně, a red marked hiking trail leads through the village of Zádub-Závišín to Podhorní vrch.
