Whytes Cleuch is a small valley 1 km NW of Wanlockhead village. The cleuch starts at about NS866136 in a north eastly direction for 1 km to approx. NS873141. The area is important as a number of veins have been worked, mostly from its SE side.

The veins worked from Whytes Cleuch are S to N:
Old Glencriff, Bay, Straitstep, Cove, New Cove, Wilsons, (north end of) Belton Grain and New Veins.
