Name:
Named in honor of Clyde Polhemus Ross, born Clyde Polhemus (1891–1965), American economic geologist with the United States Geological Survey who studied mercury deposits and the geology of Idaho. Clyde Ross Peak is also named after him.
Polymorph of:
A metastable, disordered polymorph of (mercurian) zinc sulfide (Leonard et al., 1978).
