Köppen climate type:
Surface alteration manifests as a rhomb shape, measuring 7 km in length (east to west) and 4.5 km in width (north to south), covering an area exceeding 30 km2. The exposed strata include the Paleocene Dianzhong Formation (E1d) and the Miocene Gazhacun Formation (N1g). The Dianzhong Formation is exposed in a limited area in the southwest and consists of gray tuff, tuffaceous conglomerate and sandstone from bottom to top, with a dip direction of 50° and dip angle of 20°. This feature reflects a continental volcanic-sedimentary sequence. The protolith of the Mangla lithocap consists primarily of dacitic crystal tuff and volcanic breccia with high-permeability from the Gazhacun Formation. The borehole revealed significant and relatively high-grade copper mineralization, with an apparent thickness of 137 m and an average grade of 0.46 %. The 14 m samples present values great than 1 %, with a mean of 1.54 %. The shallow hydrothermal breccia has demonstrated a certain level of gold and silver mineralization. A high-grade copper (gold, silver) orebody, measuring 50 m in thickness, is located among hydrothermal breccia and adjacent volcaniclastic rock at depths of 225 ∼ 274 m. The main ore mineral is enargite, with a copper grade of 0.71 %, a gold grade of 0.13 g/t, and a silver grade of 2.94 g/t.
