Grube Marie in der Kohlbach, Kohlbach, Hohensachsen, Weinheim, Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, Regierungsbezirk Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland
A very old lead and silver mine, first documented in 1012, which makes it the oldest mine in the Odenwald range. It was also worked between 1474 and 1476, in 1551 and again from 1773 until 1785. During the 19th century, it was prospected several times, and the old workings were also investigated in 1913 and in 1935, but the mine was never re-opened.
Now a visitor's mine during sommer months.
The deposit consists of four silicified baryte veins with lead and copper ores that contained up to 1.21 kg of silver per ton. The workings consist of two shafts, two levels that are connected by a winze, and a deep adit. Some overgrown dumps are located in the forest on the south slope of Roßbühl mountain near Kohlbach, southeast of Hohensachsen.
