Vote for your favorite mineral in #MinCup26! - Quartz vs. Asagiite
It's a classic vs a newbie as the most common named mineral in the crust Quartz is up against an exceedingly-rare sea foam-green mineral discovered just a few years ago Asagiite.

Mo-Pb bearing carbonatite vein deposit, hosted in Proterozoic andesites and tuffaceous shales at intersections of NE-NNE and NW-trending faults along a NW-trending deep fracture zone. The association with carbonatite dykes makes this an unusual deposit. Igneous carbonatite-type molybdenum-rare earth element (Mo-REE) deposit.
The molybdenum resources exceed 180 kt, whilst the total rare earth resources are about 37.8 kt.

Distinct mineralized/ore bodies known as Wengongling, Yuantou, Dashigou, Shijiawan I and II, and Taoyuan; all located in Luonan County, China. In addition to Wengongling and Shijiawan I, which are hosted by granite porphyry, the majority of the ore bodies are genetically associated with carbonatite dykes.

The Huanglongpu deposit is the largest carbonitite ore deposit in the area with reserves of 11.51 t at 0.086% Mo. The main orebody consists of clusters of veins, lenses and stockworks. It forms a zone that extends 650 m NE, 600 m NW and has a depth of 200–800 m. Individual ore veins or lenses range from several tens of metres to 500 m in length and 0.1–1 m thick.

Geochronology

Mineralization age: Mesozoic : 231 ± 7 Ma to 130 ± 7 Ma

Important note: This table is based only on rock and mineral ages recorded on mindat.org for this locality and is not necessarily a complete representation of the geochronology, but does give an indication of possible mineralization events relevant to this locality. As more age information is added this table may expand in the future. A break in the table simply indicates a lack of data entered here, not necessarily a break in the geologic sequence. Grey background entries are from different, related, localities.
