Municipality of Bragança district.

Macedo de Cavaleiros is a Portuguese city located in the sub-region of Terras de Trás-os-Montes, belonging to the Northern region and the district of Bragança.
It is the seat of the municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros, which has a total area of 699.14 km², 14,251 inhabitants in 2021, and a population density of 21 inhabitants per km², subdivided into 30 parishes. The municipality is bordered to the north by Vinhais, to the northeast by Bragança, to the east by Vimioso, to the southeast by Mogadouro, to the south by Alfândega da Fé, and to the west by Mirandela.
