"Gjerstad is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the traditional region of Sørlandet, in the southeastern part of the county, along the border with Telemark county. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Gjerstad. Other villages in the municipality include Ausland, Eikeland, Fiane, Gryting, Østerholt, Rød, Sundebru, and Vestøl."

Description: Garnet porphyroblasts are common at the locality, forming porphyroblasts up to (and perhaps exceeding) 5 cm. Crude crystals up to about 2-2.5cm could also be found associated with quartz. The garnet is inferred as a almandine-pyrope series based on the geological environment ( upper amphibolite to granulite facies meta-sediments), color ( rose-pink) and specific gravity (~3.9).
